My Blog is now on iPhone
Recently, I got a new iPhone 3G. So, I tried to port the blog to iPhone Web App using the WPTouch Theme. You need to upload and install WPTouch in your Wordpress. There’s some limitation on the WPTouch plug-in in showing some of the static pages that have customized page templates. Anyway, if you have iPhone you can browse the iPhone friendly version using Safari and type: www.jasonchew.net.
Below are the screenshots that I took from my iPhone 3G.
Tips to take screenshot: You can take the screenshot by first holding on the button round home button and then press top right the power/sleep button. You will here a snapshot sound!

Swine Flu – Is it epidemic or are we plain ignorant?
Today, I went to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for my routine checkout. To my amazement, I was greeted by a large number of temperature check stations and swine flu posters that was set up for the swine influenza.

I was asked to put on the standard N95 face mask after passing the temperature check. I was wondering whether the Ministry of Health and the Singapore government are over-reacting as we yet to have one case reported on the H1N1 virus. I went straight to the clinic for checkup. The administration nurse told me that the doctor was on leave and I actually went for the WRONG appointment date. She told me that either I have to come another day or wait for another available doctor for my turn.
So, I decided to wait for the next available doctor and got a 9972 queue number. A queue number normally will go from 0800 to 1800 following the 24hrs clock. I grumbled as I have to wait for at least 10 or more patients before my turn.
So, out of boredom I read my local tabloid, The Newpaper and saw the swine influenza news on 7 Singaporeans stranded and quarantined for 7 days while holidaying in Hong Kong. By now, I understand how they filled as I can’t bared to wear the N95 face mask for close to 3 hours talked about 7×24hrs!
Out of curiousity on how the H1N1 influenza has on the search results. I decided to do some exercise on Keywords Research on Google Adwords: Keyword Tool while I am waiting at the hospital for my turn to see doctor for my routine checkup. I was shocked to find out that keyords related to ‘swine flu’, ‘h1n1 influenza’ etc have no more than 3,600 search results for the past few months (see below).

Only keywords ‘avian flu’ or ‘bird flu’ or ‘h5n1 flu’ have more than 90,000 to search results. May be the bird flu have the biggest impact on the world than swine flu. Or may be people prefers bird than pig. Birds do fly pig can’t.
These keywords research shown few things. Either the latest swine influenza outbreak is still in the infancy stage and people have yet push the panic button or we are plain ignornant. Unconvinced I do a layman’s Google search by entering ‘swine flu’ and ‘bird flu’ keywords respectively. I got 16,000,000 results for ‘swine flu‘ while 11,600,000 results for ‘bird flu‘. Aha… Now people are really panicing.
Out of curiosity again, I want to find out whether there is any seasonality of Swine flu. I check the Wikpipedia and found out that since 1976 swine outbreak has been going on every decade on the pigs. Only these time the virus start to work on the humans. The viruses have been evolving and changing permutation in HxNx where x stands for 1, 2, 3.. 5. So, I guess that’s the pig revenge on the humans for eating too much bacons.
Too bad, the net only starts from the 1990s and I bet Google have database on the seasonality for these search on 1998.
Yeah, it’s my turn to see the doctor now. Seeya.
